Dolmabahce Palace and Asian Side of the city in one day. You will be picked you up from your hotel and your driver will take you to the tour’s starting point between 10:45 – 11:20 depending on your hotel’s location. The first stop of the tour is Dolmabahce Palace, this is a half day morning tour and you will visit;
Ortakoy (non stop)
This lovely area, is located right under the first bridge of Bosphorus, close to Dolmabahce Palace at the Besiktas district. Lying right on the banks of Bosphorus provides amazing views of the city! A former fishermen village full of well preserved historic wooden houses, local boutiques, night clubs, cafes and restaurants. During the Ottoman period, Ortakoy used to be a cosmopolitan area, where Turks, Greeks, Armenians and Jews lived all together. This small place is also known for the Kumpir, a tasty baked potato, served with several fillings.
Bosphorus Bridge – Boğaziçi Köprüsü
The first bridge of Istanbul which was built in 1973 connects the two continents.
The highest peak in the Istanbul district is the 288m Camlica Hill. It has a great view that embraces the mouth of the Bosphorus, old Istanbul, Galata, Beyoglu and lets you understand the magnificence and beauty of the city.
Dolmabahce Palace – Dolmabahçe Sarayı
(Closed on Mondays – Thursdays & replaced with Galata Tower)
Being royal residence of Ottoman dynasty after 1856, this spectacular palace is a combination of Art Nouveau and Baroque style. The palace has cost 5 million Ottoman gold coins which are equal to 40 tons of gold today. 14 tons of gold in the form of gold leaf were used to gild the ceilings of the palace which cover 45,000 square meters mono block. Last Sultan left the palace in 1923 when The Republic of Turkey was founded. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk also breathed his last over there. Today, Dolmabahce Palace serves as a museum. (Harem Section is not included in the itinerary because it needs additional time and fee so please check with your tour guide if you would like to spend time over there on your own.)
